    Default Not Your Ordinary Picnic

I signed on as usual, standing in front of my bedroom window staring into space and wishing that Moonie were back already. I keep the candle he gave me on the window sill to light his way.

I was drifting off into some of our memorable moments when suddenly I was interrupted by a PM. It was my forum teammate, Pollus, asking what I was up to. I replied that I wasn't up to much at the moment, so he asked if I'd like to meet him in Dome # 9. Sure I said, I was up for it ... thinking that we were going to hunt for a bit.

However, upon my arrival, I noticed that Pollus wasn't in his armor, but rather in his usual business suit, and had taken out his stool. He was placing something on the ground when I asked what was up.

He said ... I thought we'd have a picnic. I said how quaint that you chose Dome # 9. He gave a little chuckle before I told him that if we were going to have a picnic, I had better get outta this armor and outfit and into something more casual. Like the gentleman he is, he turned his back while I changed.

While in the middle of changing, Pollus had to take care of a little business, but ever so the gentleman he is, he never turned around.

I finally finished changing and said you can turn around now, which he did ever so slowly as he canvased the terrain.

But then he pulled out his weapon and starting shooting past me . . .

Default Not Your Ordinary Picnic ... cont'd

I turned quickly to see what he was shooting at, only to find an already dead Sabakuma carcass up on the hill to the left of the tree. What a good shot I said ... thx for looking out for me.

As he stood there in all his bravery, I could only imagine him saying to himself either ... "it's my job to protect" ... or ... "it's just a frickin' sandpuppy" ... but nonetheless, he WAS looking out for me.

We finished laying out the decorations for our picnic area before sitting down to enjoy a little friendship time together. However, before I moved in to take a seat, Pollus canvased the area one more time to make sure it was clear.

After feeling it was safe, he took a seat and beckoned me to join him.

As I approached to join Pollus, he said ... I thought I would serve up "Sabakuma Kabobs" for your dining pleasure. I was amazed to see how quickly he was able to grill our lunch.

Default Not Your Ordinary Picnic ... cont'd

After sitting down next to Pollus, I could see that he utilized one of the Xmas Cloths to catch all the grease from the grilling. I'm sure it was to prevent future hunters and miners from slipping and hurting themselves.

It wasn't long into our kabobs before Pollus said ... don't overstuff yourself now, because I brought dessert as well. Once again, I was amazed at his culinary genius ... he whipped up an "Atrax Cobbler" and laid it right at my feet.

We were just about to dig into the cobbler when Pollus quickly rose to his feet. His senses are keen and he knew we were no longer alone. Indy had come to hunt or mine the dome but was curious what was going on. Pollus quickly told him that we were having a private friendship picnic and not to pick anything up. Indy was respectful and said no problem prior to moving along.

After finally consuming the cobbler, Pollus stood up and said that he wasn't feeling very well. He took out his First Aid Kit prior to slumping over, which caused me great concern.

Default Not Your Ordinary Picnic ... cont'd

Pollus was able to pull himself together long enough to activate the First Aid Kit and bring himself around. It was a relief to say the least, I was concerned that he might have gotten MOB poisoning, but he seemed to come out of it ok. He took an inventory of his fingers to make sure everything was intact.

It had been an eventful afternoon to say the least. Pollus was successful at coordinating a delightful picnic while making sure the area stayed clear of menacing creatures and curious onlookers.

We were ready to part our ways for the day, so I changed back into my pre-armored outfit and didn't ask Pollus to turn around this time, but like the friend and gentleman he is, he didn't oogle or make any typical testosterone-driven remarks that some men would make ... I can think of one in particular ... his initials are "Mudkicker"

I thanked Pollus for a lovely picnic and said his spontaneity was refreshing and entertaining.

We said our goodbyes, and then went off our separate ways. I have now dubbed Dome # 9 as the "Friendship Dome" ... and I'm sure that sometime in the future, other events will take place that will present memorable moments.

I worked like a cook for some years and suggest you to put the sabakuma on the grill with some haimoros and rosemary... for the atrax I think that in the oven could be great

Thx everyone ... glad you enjoy the storylines. There will be plenty of Space Resort/CND storylines in 2006, so stay tuned. Ya never know when the next opportune time will present itself. As I always say ... the spontaneous moments are the ones that create the most interesting stories.

As PE's official "Picture Storyteller" ... I'll be your roving "Paparazzi" and capturing those unique moments that either have us going "awwwww" ... "how'd they do that?" ... "unbelievable" ... or even perhaps "OMFG"

There's more to life in space than hunting, mining, crafting and "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" ... and I feel compelled to show you the other side, although certainly some adventures will occur while hunting, mining, crafting and "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" for sure.

The point being ... that we truly ARE limited only by our thinking. Look at all the creativity that is taking place from the members at this forum, and all the critical thinking that breaks things down into component parts that make it more understandable.

Collective thinking and shared personal experience only enhances our level of involvement in this magnificent virtual environment. I for one have learned tremendously from the trials and tribulations of others. That's why keeping an open mind and inviting the perspective of others is so key in expanding our horizons.

I personally want to thank all of you for maintaining the level of integrity that you do at this forum. Yes, we have our opinions, and sometimes there are things that we don't agree with or that might piss us off, but so far we've managed to express ourselves in a manner that gives us a voice, but without a level of nasty or threatening tone ... don't go there, that challenge has already been dealt with and you guys handled it quite well.

So here's to an exciting storyline run in 2006.

    PS:

Thx Mooze regarding the "subforum" ... it was an idea that came about so that the storylines didn't get lost in the shuffle, and would easily be available for anyone to read ... especially newcomers to the forum. It will hopefully be a ready guide to inspire others to explore beyond their usual mode of hunting, mining and/or crafting.

these pictorial stories are so fun I would like to have a Space on the main page, to announce your latest work... maybe you can create a banner leading to this forum thread - and underneath the banner it can announce when there is a new story.
