    Default Looking for a mentor

    Greetin's,

My name is Marc 'Marcaine' Badura. I'm relatively new to EU, been playing for a weeks. Deposited and subsequently blown that cash. I started hunting and found it to be a poor source of income, so I switched to mining which I was slightly more successful at. Although, I cannot resist the temptation to hunt from time to time. My interest in the game was the economy and currency. I am a graduate student going for my Ph D in Neuroscience. I'm interested in EU because I wanted to try my hand at other, non-science skills. I'd like to try to start planning events or helping to coordinate other functions. I'd eventually like to buy or help manage property and real estate. My interest is to bring something to the community you cannot loot or mine. I'd like to brnig a sense of community, something the people look forward to. I'd love to try to manage a club/disco, what have you.

So theres my reason for playing the game, generally. As a grad student, I work a lot so my time is limited. I'm usually on evenings EST. I don't take myself (or anything) too seriously. With a challenging and fulfilling career, I just can't take any game too seriously.

Anywho, I'm begining to feel like I'm filling out a dating service application. I just wanted to provide enough info to find a good match. Hey, there's a buisness idea, "mentormatch.com" Matching you with another in EU! Shit, I'm going to register that domain name.

    Okay, let the fun start.

    Welcome to the Entropia Universe!

Probably one of the best ways to learn the game is to join a society that helps new players. The Entropia Universe is a very diverse place and no two people do things exactly the same. Having multiple people at your disposal willing to teach you various things is probably one of the best ways to learn the game and carve out your own path.

For over 4 years the NBK Group of Societies has maintained at least one society that helps new players learn the game. Currently we have 3 societies that are open to newer players, they are the NBK Army, NBK Legion, and NBK Miners. The NBK Army and NBK Legion are both "sister" societies, each operating in the same way. Generally speaking they are both for players who are more focused on hunting whereas the NBK Miners is obviously a Mining centric society.

In the NBK, a player enters our group at a level based on their avatar’s skill level. As you increase your skills, you rise in rank and then eventually graduate to the next higher NBK society. This type of environment allows players to continuously be around other players who are at or above their own skill level which maximizes your ability to learn and just as importantly, make new friends. Like real life, in EU the success or failure of a person often depends on who they meet and what they learn from those people. The "skill ladder" found in the NBK dramatically helps to remove the glass ceiling and limited flow of information that most players encounter in this game.

You mentioned that you are interested in being an event promoter down the road. It can be a tough business to get into however in the NBK, it’s a bit easier to get started out. All 9 of our societies with all 500 of our members share the same society forums and interact a lot with each other, many of which are hungry for new events of various kinds. It’s fairly easy to create a successful inter-NBK event, then as time goes by and you become more well known, you can easily transition into creating open EU events for all kinds of people. Perhaps you will even gain a large enough of a following to be noticed by Neverdie himself. There are times when he needs event promoters to help him promote various things in game.

It’s up to you to carve out your own path in this game and most people find that it’s easier to do that while in a large, active, and diverse organization such as the NBK. We want to help you have the Entropia experience that you want to have.

If you are interested in joining, please feel free to send me an email by using the Contact function on our society website, Natural Born Killers
