As a shopowner I was kinda looking forward to this addition. So when I first logged on this morning, I saw it up and running and figured I would give it a shot.
I am not a rich man, so I only invested 100PED for 30 Days. I spent about 30 minutes designing a banner that I thought would be effective and get the message across to the PE community about my shop up here. When I looked to the bottom, it said I would be able to see it 4.xx% per hour (I think thats what it goes by). Anyway, I ok'd the transaction, ran over to the big screen and watched all the advertisements.
After about 30 minutes of watching advertisements I realized the whole system is a sham. I saw probably 10 ads that were actually advertisements, the rest were people screwing around with the system. Some were funny but it pissed me off that I wasted 100PED and hadn't seen my ad once because some jackass decided to make stupid advertisements about how so and so is a noob.
Anyway, without me rambling on about how upset I am right now, I went back to the terminal to see what was going on with my ad and I noticed that my advertisement % went from 4.xx% to .22% when I last checked. So basically, I wasted 100PED so people could be stupid.
MA should not allow anyone other than shop owners or land owners to use the ad system because if they are that serious about investing so much money into the game then maybe they would take the advertisement system a bit more seriously.
So my point to everyone is to not use the system until MA regulates it unless you really feel like wasting PED in the slim chance that you will see your Ad.

I thought it was a little weird too.

I was going to advertise on the system too and put in 150 PED but couldnt get above like 0.14% for the 30 days. Maybe more should be put in but i think itd be quite hard to justify that much of an investment in advertising for the frequency its on.

Apparently the ad system is only open to estate owners but this also includes apartment owners etc, so pretty much anyone can add cus you can buy an apt on calypso quite cheap now adays.

Hopefully the percentage will increase after a week or so but unless it does i cant see me advertising in there yet. I mean look at the lengths of theads and it says you got pretty much no chance o seeing yours in an hour. bit weird.

Maybe introduce a deed ranking system? I know some ppl would be annoyed but it may help to get more of a weight to shop owners etc?

I am wondering where the peds go when you pay for an advertisement.

And if they go to the lootpool, is MA really paying for their own advertisement? Most definitly not.

Money probably goes to MA's pockets, and they put their own commercial for free, making players pay more for having a chance to get the ad displayed.

Ad system seems out of balance if you ask me.

It is a shame about the ad system as it is atm - hopefully it will all sort itself out soon when people have had enough of messing about with it

BUt to be honest why does MA advertise Project Entropia in a 30 second video in Project Entropia. IM ALREADY HERE ha ha ok maybe its a sneak peak so thanks.

ok guys... here is something we should think about...

pooling our money... we have 5 pages to display adds on, if we all go in together, we have more money to do ads with, therefore they get shown much more often...

and as a test i did a 50 pedder for 2 days.

alot of people have said they have seen my ad.

MA need to take this further and allow external design being loaded into the ad system...

lets say you just pay somemore and you will be able to use external images...

I think it would be much better like that. that way you KNOW that you can make something unique rather than using a template :P.

O well. Rava I saw your ads too I think pooling money together would be a good idea. sign me up for a page :P

I will wait for one month before putting an ad in the system, and the % will certainly increase. Also there are always bugs in the early age of a new VU.

Sounds like a good idea mate ill be in with the hanger and im sure ripper will be in with the shop too

It does seem out of balance. I support the though of only estate, hangar and shop owners should be allowed to advertize.

I paid 68ped for almost no chance of getting displayed over 8 days...
Never gonna do that again.

Word of mouth is both cheaper and probably more efficient way of marketing.
