CND-Build The Local Economy
To all CND residents:
In the past week I have probably sold 1.5k Ped in Ores and Ematter to buyers. Most of these buyers buy in bulk and and go down to the surface to sell to Societies, Crafters, Individuals, or in Auction. Because of this trade-route many items that are crafted end up in auction and shops planeside. In a way this is milking CND to support not the local economy but the already thriving one below.
I would wish CND to become a Mecca for local industry and trade. Where Crafters, Miners Hunters and Service Providers would unite to keep CND's natural recourses in the local economy. For example if I global a 10k deposit in Oil, I would much rather sell it to a Pilot than to a trader, that will bring it below.
If we could create a unofficial society of local residents who trade amongst themselves, with good prices with the aim of building infrastructure. This might lure others to stay longer, to get good prices and while they are here they use local shops and services.
I would like to open this discussion to idea's on how to organize and expand the local community and industry.

nice post.
I think we could do with a few more resident crafters up there to be able to build the cnd economy a little.
Of course everything takes time and this will be no different...i think it will need a few regular crafters up at cnd for a period of like 2 week before we start to see a difference. this way ppl who have been hunting mining in the domes will start to realise theres more ppl to sell to and not just store things in there apt till they have run out of money or ready to go back down :P

As With All Things
Ok I admit I have not extensivly tested this or checked out fully the bob the builder site. But CND has not got every ore / enmatter that the planet has.
SO you would need to have pilots or friends bring up ores that you then nead to fill your recipie up to craft up at cnd.
I have to admit its a bit strange that you dont see people trading wool & skins - but again theres no molisk for the begginer to get the buttons to begin crafting and foul buttons are pricey
theres no molisk because theres no dna.
There is of course plenty of resource for basic filters ! ! to skill up on but In order to actually make usefull Items then you would I belive still be missing some ores.
If you were to craft as well then you would nead somewhere to sell your wares and goods - I dont think there is enough call on auction up at cnd to fill these with the new auction fees.
Shopkeeper pads are expensive & to own a Neverdie shop you need seriose cash in your pockets just to buy the shop and yet alone stock it. ( I thin a shop is somewhere in the region of 40k peds to 50k peds ) as an example
A shop on the planets in highly visable ares is still around 25k peds to 35k peds.
I hope that It takes off soon

If my soc mate Mandread is up at CND (which he often is) then he gets first calls on any ores I have. I also sell oil to pilots, and have a few Control Room regulars who buy my ores (Eagle, Teilk, Moonbiter).
I keep telling the crafters in my soc to get their butts up here, as they can be easily stocked with ores, but as Sally says, not everything is availble here.

One day... MA will add Space and CND will become a Major Outpost in SPace.
As opposed to just a round trip ticket from calypso
until this time its hard for the CND economy to develop properly.

I dont know if this would work or if any one has even tried it. But what would be cool would be if there was a shared ownership shop where traders /miners / crafters could sell there stuff on.
So basically some one buys a shop in the Mall and then has 10 shopkeapers there. You then rent a shopkeaper from this store and get peds back.
This has limitations at the moment as not 100 % sure how the sales records would go as these would go to the dead owner and so there would nead to be A LOT of trust in there as this would then nead to be devided up.
Also people nead to be buying the stuff your making.
ore amps enmatter amps are available at several of the mall shops
emt kits & furnature as well
Also knowing what people want will help to capture the market

To go a little further with what ND said, is it possible to make a website that users can log onto, enter what they need, their location, and price they are willing to pay? Maybe make it a constantly updating ticker of some sort where sellers can find their buyers very easily. Or possibly, shopkeepers could do the same thing and advertise their current stock and prices and buyers can find them. Dunno if that is possible but its worth a shot. Especially since I hear EU is windowed now allowing everyone to view websites while they play. Possibly even make a chat room dedicated to the trading ticker at CND....I hear Faustian created an IRC channel dedicated to trading on EF.

i did start an area on this web site for thing i have and can make if the higher end crafters would ask i'll do all i can to make the componets that they need. I dont have BPC opened up yet but i am getting close to it. I am trying to make a living making things on cnd so i can stay there and do my crafting and mining but in order to do it i need buyers on cnd.
talk to me crafters i'll do what i can for ya. And miner if i have the peds to buy ore's and enmatters from you i'll do it.

The biggest problem is that our stuff up at CND is so bloody cheap compared to the planet. It's because of a lack of people. With our limited amount of avid users there are only so many apts being used to store goods. Which means only so much can actually be up at cnd at any given time dependent on the amount of users at CND.
The best way to build the economy is to increase the amount of users at the station. IMO, CND should look like an uberized PA at all hours of the day lol. Thats about the only time the economy will stable and improve.
CND is potentially a tiny game in itself but it seems the only thing to really offer up here is events but once again the amount of things to offer is dependent on the amount of people there, not counting people who fly up specifically for events then go back down. There are no real soc's yet so the area doesn't have much meaning to a lot of players in a sense that there is nothing/nobody there for them to really interact with.
/end rant part one (i'm sure i'll have more to say later.)
