Is Second Life the Paris Hilton of virtual worlds?
Thought I would post this link here since we aren't allowed to talk about other MMO's on the other forum.
If you click the first article link to the Forge article, there are some pretty interesting comments, including "It is famous for being famous, and little else."
Slashdot | Is Second Life the Paris Hilton of Virtual Worlds?
Personal commentary: I think the concept of Second Life is cool, especially the fact that all of the content is user-generated, but this kind of commentary is what happens when you build a virtual world with no real "gameplay" or skilling process like we have in Entropia Universe.
As MA looks to incorporate user-generated content, they should be mindful of staying to their original vision. A sandbox is only fun when there are swings and slides in it.

Agreed.
But the game is so...life-like?
Can't hunt or mine or anything. But that's just me..
Guess the real kicker is paying the $1k for an island then something like $125/month to keep it. Not exactly free...

SL is very interesting and very different from what i've found. And yea i dont find it realy free since you can't own land without subscribing. Mind you thats a great buisness plan for them. To me SL is like a new web where anyone can go and create and make things. Buying land there is kinda like and about as expensive as hosting cost for a website. But you can do a lot more with it.
We've actually had some interesting ideas for MA to use SL on epec.

all we gotta do is stay Strong and EU will reach critical mass.

Lol what we need is for MA to come through with some of the projects they have promised us but have yet to give us. Even just some tiny things that could make the game stronger.

Nice blockey Content
Well I saw the article on this in mail of sunday in a different post over the weekend - personal opinion in its way too commerical / moulan rouge and anther places to visit.
but you look like a block head and the clothes dont fit - it reminds me of the tomorrows world virtual world created 10 years a go as a trial and this was over 56k modems.
I think that MA have the better graphics and when people join can look around and think yes its not glorified chat ;P
