    Default Troubleshooting: Streaming Music

I've had a problem the last month or so and keep forgetting to ask about it ... but when I try to listen to the music stream at CND, it goes really fast and high pitched, like superspeed .. and it sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks.

It doesn't do this for any other sounds/music in EU, nor does it do it if I listen to the CND stream from the web.

I had this problem a few times when the music was first implemented, but a quick reboot of the computer seemed to fix it. The last month, I haven't been able to solve it at all.

I haven't had any changes to my computer set-up or hardware or anything in that time, so I'm not sure what would have triggered it.

I've filed a support case in hopes MA might have some suggestions, but I thought I'd check here, as well.

Let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks!

Not sure if this would do anything or not, but on the login screen, try going into options and changing your connection speed. First try turning it up, then try turning it down if that doesn't work. If neither works... well... I tried. :P

Felicity, what is your soundcard? I too have the same issue, I have submitted a support ticket on it.

For me, the sound is not like a chipmunk but it stutters really bad and it causes my hunting and fapping, etc. to be really stuttered.

When I go back to the control room I'm fine...I've heard that it's because the music is a separate stream and I might want to disable streaming audio but I really want to hear the music.

I'm on a laptop and though it has a gig of RAM and 256 meg video card, I guess it doesn't process streaming as fast as a similar desktop would.

My laptop is no slouch, and it was doing fine before a recent change in one of the VUs...then the chipmunk thing started.

I'll try setting my connection speed down and give it a test.

My laptop isn't uber, but it's not that bad either .. and like Slick, until around the time of the last VU I had no problems. I also find it odd that I have no issues with any other music in game, or online streaming music (including CND Live from outside the game).

I can't remember what my sound card is, I'll look tonight.

I've tried adjusting the connection speed in options but it made no difference.

Slick, let me know if you find the trick.

Setting my connection speed down to 128k, and no more chipmunks. Set it back to 512k, and still no chipmunks...don't know if this is just coincidence or not.
