CND Needs Newbs. Short Essay.
The CND resort is in need of fresh blood. Not just fresh blood every now and again but an actual flow of it. The fresh blood I'm refering to is newbs.
First, despite how annoying many of them can be, they are the reason the game is booming. The reason newbs are so important is because of the sweat market which CND does not have. The sweat market is over all important because it moves the money around little by little to each player but over the money transfered is huge because there are so many new players helping the process.
Second, newbs evolve. Every now and again, if they don't quit, they grow up into better and great players of the game. Players who deposit and try to advance and this is a great way of getting more money into CND. Once CND economy fills up and starts acting like its parent economy back on Calypso alot more people will be interested in spending time/residing up on CND.
Third, newbs promote. No newb wants to play alone so they invite friends to come with them. These people can be established players or they can be first time downloaders but all in all the word is getting out.
The question is how to get their attention and how to keep it.

The problem is that most people find the game through www.entropiauniverse.com and there's no way to get your account to start at CND from the EU website. It's rare to find a noob starting up at CND since the sign up link is, relatively speaking, a secret. MA needs to add CND to the start up location options when creating a new account. The only other way is for us, CND loyals, to spread the word about CND (notice I say CND, not EU in specific) to our friends who don't play EU yet. Have them try the game and start at CND.

So far despite tons of press and literally millions of impressions via various articles... CND doesn't seem to get the new accounts directly, they go to the main EU website.
However I have some other key initiatives that Im planning to implement this year to drive traffic to my download links... So we will see.
One other alternative might be to start recuruiting Noobs at PA, I tried this once and 1 out of 4 noobs I flew up actualy stuck (Cat)
although it may seem quiet at CND at times, its actually still getting busier every month.... August looks like it will be the biggest month of the year...
But anything you guys can do to bring in the noobs is welcome!

Not sure if im going of post, but will say the following...
I recently started running a "single highest loot" competition within my Soc directed at the newer members to EU and the Society. The competition has a prize of a return flight+ammo (and or probes/bombs) package to visit CND.
This not only encorages Soc members participating to skill but also to give them the opportunity to vist CND, something that would normally (maybe) be out of the reach of the normal new player's Ped budget.
Amongst the things that i've seen discussed in our Soc Chat was a comment made by a couple of members that found the idea of flying/visiting CND a little daunting and thought it to be only the home of the Uber (note that these members are experienced gamers, well read in EF, PEDirectory etc)
Having of course now explained to them, it makes me wonder if this could be thought by others.
I know more "noob" friendly events and being promoted, which is great, and there is now a good number of Domes now suited.
I for one will continue to encourage and help my Society members to experience CND in the early stages of their EU life (where as the experienced members seem to need little encouragement !)

How about this... I offer Socities that are active in mentoring to bring their Noobs to CND to train them...
CND will sponsor the Noobs learning curve with the following Rewards
1k Sweat (market Price for sweat + Opalo + 1K ammo) lvl 1
2.5k Sweat (market Price sweat + Low TT value Fap 5 ) lvl 2
5k Sweat ( Market Price + Ore Finder + Driller + 20 Bombs) lvl 3
10k Sweat (Market Price + Fap 15 + enmatter Kit ) lvl 4
Only Registered socities can bring their disciples into this program. All Sweat must be gathered at CND. Society Will Be refunded flight ticket Price for Noob when noob reaches level 4...
This is just an idea, might be too generous, suggestions please
(this Post does not constitute an offer, it is part of a brainstorm session)

I have a very quick and easy way for MA to solve this problem
If newb download from realityport they get different set of "newb clothes" not the standard orange. Something thats just a different color and more for a party scene.
I think if CND markets more as a free and fun 3D chat room in a club setting and work at getting some younger girls/women in. Boys will follow and get into killing and blowing up stuff later.

Encirca thanks for bringing this up again...do a search on this forum for "download client" and you'll see many more thoughts about this from the rest of us.
Rex suggests a great idea...giving status to CND noobs such as perhaps blue prisoner clothes instead of orange.
And Neverdie's idea is very promising. If implemented I could see two additions:
-publicising this on your main realityport page in a box of some sort that says "New Player Rewards" and then lists the levels and how to download and who to see for the rewards.
-speaking of who to see for the rewards you would need to hire or appoint a "Noob Coordinator" to do this because if there is a high volume you won't want to have to stand in the control room all day giving out the various level's prizes.

I'd be more than happy to color some yellow/blue shirts and pants...could make a "CND party dress code". Make the orange clothing a thing of the past.

For the week I ran around in orange with no armor, no weapon and no fap, and while sweating mobs, my only saving grace was the river outside PA that could be used to drown the mobs when my health got dangerously low. Without that means of defense, sweating would have been overly frustrating. Once I acquired a weapon, my interest in sweating very quicky disipated. If the objective of the incentive program is to attract more new people and to increase the supply of sweat on CND, I would suggest the incetives focus a bit more on defense than offense to compesate for the lack of a water source. Maybe start with the Fap 5 rather than the opalo in order to keep the sweaters sweating a bit longer, but still feeling as though they are making progress by having the ability to keep themselves alive longer giving them more time to sweat. This will also generate a larger supply of sweat on CND by delaying a new person's access to weapons, unless they acquire one another way.
Hugs,
Aliana
