I saw this post this morning and it got me thinking,
Event Partner Proposal

It would be nice to get a weekly event going again on Rocktropia, but I cant afford to do it on my own.

Costs for a 1hour in game event.
25ped to create it
50ped to reserve a 1 hour slot
100ped in prizes
Total = 175ped

That would come to approximately 700ped per month to run 4 events. (obviously low level events)
-50ped for the Event Partner donation = 650ped per month

There are a couple of ways we could do it.
0ped entry fees = 650ped cost per month
5ped entry fees(assuming an average of 10 participants) = 450ped per month
5ped entry fees(assuming an average of 20 participants) = 250ped per month
10ped entry fees(assuming an average of 20 participants) = 150ped profit per month

I think realistically we can not expect people to pay 10ped per ticket for a 50ped 1st prize, and I don't think we can expect 20 regular participants either.
This means in order to do this we would need 450-650ped per month to run weekly events.

I would like to see if we could get people from the Rocktropia community willing to donate on a regular basis towards the goal of running weekly events. If we cant come up with enough then we could hold just one or two a month as well.

I am willing to donate my time to organization and some ped towards covering unfilled pledges in order to keep the events running smoothly, but to start with it would be good to have an honest idea of if this is even realistic to consider, and how much we are willing to commit on a monthly or weekly basis.

Please let me know what you think and what ideas presented may need to be changed as well as if you are willing to commit to helping with this project.

I'd like to help out with this, but not until I'm back on RT and not until there are more ppl around. Right now there can't be many ppl around with pockets for one hour hunt events, well at least I suspect you where thinking of hunting events?

Maybe should consider 30min events, especially if they are targeted towards new players...

I like this idea and will be happy to make contributions to help fund it (I can not commit to long term pledges but I can give you some stuff in advance towards the prizes).
I can not see with the amount of active players currently there is any chance of profit (My last noob event with 200 ped of prizes and 1 Ped ticket cost only attracted 6 people and that was with constant promotion of the event)

A few things that would help.

* Ad's on CND live to promote the event
* Live DJ on CND live during the event
* Free use of the Ad terminals again to promote
* A few players willing to stand at various TP's to promote the event (Maybe hire a few noobs for this)
* allow new players to purchase tickets with sweat from promoters

As I said I can not make a ongoing commitment to contribute but if we take it on a month by month basic I will be able to chuck in 100 ped or so of prizes a month.

30 minute events are a good idea and would cut 100ped off the monthly cost.
Buying tickets with sweat is also a great Idea, and I could do that at the same (unfortunatly low) rate that i buy sweat normaly, but it might be easier in some peoples mind to give 1k of sweat for a ticket instead of giving 1.5peds for a ticket. The other problem that confuses people is that say you set the entry fee at 1ped, if you pay for and register at the marker you pay one ped, but if you buy a ticket for 1ped then when you register you get the 1ped (tt value) of the ticket back, so the promoter is actually giving away 1ped per ticket. Of course the other option to this would be to go through the process of explaining that to each person, and with time i think it would be understood.

As for live djs, the event system allows you to have a stream for the event, we could see if evey or someone would dj for them and it would ad alot of fun to it as well.

Well John i don't thinkyou will get a LIVE DJ onCND. every since the beginning on RT i have been talking to some ppl , EZ for one and Todd a few times about them getting a LIVE DJ on the air. Narfi it is a great idea. but with very little ppl on Rocktropia. and those that are playing are so new to the game, dont' really stay long. which is Sad because there is no market. I want to help but when my own ped card reads 0 Im' just barely surviving .. the most i do now in game is just sweat.
and I refuse to Depo. until i see a better loot %.

Example: for the past few days i went hunting with only my opalo 10peds each day and each day i come back with less than 4peds in loot sometimes as low as only 2.5peds.. there is something wrong. So until even i see a change in the market on RT, Im sorry i can't help not even to particupate in any events.

DJ sure why not, I'd like live commentary though, makes it easier to concentrate on the actual goal of the event.
What could be done at the very moment though without the help of a dedicated DJ that is ingame, is that you can add any working stream to the event and have it play during the event. I didn't go to the event but this was done this week on some event on Calypso, a guy added the stream of a Swedish web radio to his event.

Anyway it sounds like we have some ideas going and sure could come up with a good event strategy, I'd say lets try and make a solid plan for this and have it ready for when there are more ppl around. I'm sure there will few more ppl in the future with the coming content and the promotion they plan at that convention that I can't remember the name of...
