BANNER CONTEST ... Prize has been matched by RealityPort.com!!!
NEVERDIE would like to have a banner on the CND main page that advertises that our community has a picture storytelling feature that gives insight into many of the fun activities that take place at CND, and that enhance experiences in our virtual world environment.

==============================
Since my experience does not extend to the banner-making level, I am soliciting our enormously creative geek community (<-- written with much affection
) ... to come up with your best designs.
GUIDELINES
* You are not limited to the number of entries
* Post all entries right here in this thread for everyone to see
* MindStar9 should be spelled out and with a capital "S"
* The term "Picture Storyteller" should be incorporated
* Club NEVEREDIE should also be included in the banner
* The banner will lead directly to the "MS9's Storylines" subforum
* We want the banner to catch interest by the general community in order to promote a draw to the forum ... in doing so they can also experience all of the other wonderful things that are happening here as well ... we want to promote the excitement of what we are all doing in support of this incredible undertaking
* NEVERDIE also requested an option that will allow us to announce that a new storyline is available, so the ability to update the banner is important as well
* Even though "purple" is my favorite color, everyone knows how colorful I am, so having a sort of "rainbow effect" without overdoing it would be nice, but I'm going to leave all that up to you guys ... I can tell you that I'm NOT a fan of lime green ... but purple, cobalt blue, red, kelly green, yellow, orange ... go for it ... OR ... it can be a simple 2 or 3-color design ... just get creative
UPDATE ======================================== UPDATE
PRIZE
In addition to being the winning banner that will be premiered at the CND main page ... I would like to offer another prize in appreciation of the effort put forth into making the winning banner.
The additional prize is ... (drumroll) ... 100 "Golden Sprinkles" (PED)
NEWS FLASH ... ND stated that RealityPort.com will match the 100 PED original prize for the winning banner ...
GO, GO, GO ... WhooHoo!
UPDATE ======================================== UPDATE
CONTEST TIMELINE
* This contest will begin immediately and continue through Tuesday, January 10th.
* The winner of the contest will be announced at this forum on Wednesday, January 11th after consultation with ND
* ND or I will then meet with the winner ingame to turn over the prize of 200 PED.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ... we have some superstars in this community already, and I'm looking forward to all that creativity that continuously spills over into every area of our forum.
If there's anything further you need, let me know here in this thread.
Thanks a gazillion!!!

Hello Lykke ... my SUPER FRIEND
You've presented some very valid questions with regard to the banner. However, I'm going to have to defer them to ND and/or CPH to answer.
The one question that I CAN answer however, is that you are more than welcome to use whatever pics of mine that are available that you feel will fit into the banner theme.
Thx for the gratz ... I'm thrilled that ND is being so supportive of the storytelling feature, but then right from the beginning, it's been no secret that he is all for enhancing the community involvement and promotion of this enormous undertaking, but for the benefit of all ... it just takes time to tweak everything.
Since I'm such a fan of you and VF and your creative styles, I'm extremely excited that ND brought the two of you onboard as Event Managers. I'm not as familiar with Ogi's endeavors, but have met with him ingame and had a chat. We have FL'd and I'm sure that he will add just as creative a flare as the two of you.
I know you guys have always enjoyed the storylines, so fasten your seatbelt because there will be many more.
2006 will pop.
If there's anything else I can help with regarding the banner, let me know.

**Bump**
Maybe everyone is still trying to recover from their New Year celebrations ...
Whatever the case ... there's a contest goin' on here, and I know we have very creative individuals who could knock this outta the dome (so to speak) ... so hopefully y'all will get busy.
If I have to extend the timeframe bcuz of busy schedules, let me know ... that won't be a problem.
Also ... I'm still trying to get the answers to your questions Lykke, so hang in there with me.
If you have any intention of submitting an entry, plz let it be known here, as Epic has ... Thx!

1) usual banner size is 476*86 or something I thought.
That purely depends from which sizes the forum allows.
2) jpeg is always best as it displays correctly in almost all browsers. PNG doesn't show up in some, GIF has decreased quality and BMP doesn't show up also and can be quite heavy. best is also to decrease the JPEG quality to about 80-90% as it will speed up the loading time.
3) NEVER use CMYK for web, nor RGB for pre-press. So for web-based stuff, always use RGB
Great contest, too bad I don't have imageediting software at work or I would have started already
additional question - are there vector logos available from MA, PE and cND ? or are we "free to alter" ?

Thx Psych for responding to the questions ... with regard to the vector logos, I'll have to get with ND/CPH regarding that, but will get the question answered as soon as possible.
The contest as it stands right now, runs through Tuesday the 10th, but if I have to extend it bcuz of schedules, I'll do it. I just know we have a lot of creative ppl in this community and I'm hoping they'll get onboard with this, but I also want to respect that they have busy schedules IRL too.
Glad to see that you'll be submitting an entry!

And we need to play too sometimes. Maybe that's the hidden message behind all those "no loots" and "prospecting skills". What they actually mean is "GO TO WORK" lol

And huge gratz to you, friend.
I have a few questions to ask:
1) Is a special size required? Or is it the usual bannersize 120x500px to use?
2) How do you want the banner? As ordinary jpeg - or is a web-version required?
3) As it is for web - does it matter if you use cmyk or RGB-colours?
4) Last but not least - are we allowed to use your pictures from the forums?
Lootius blessings with it all
MindStar - and I look forward to read more of your storytelling
Lykke
1. Bannersizes, well, make 120x500, make a 155x31 and make it ok to submit contest entries with 468x60 standard banner sizes.
2. submit in you JPEGS, to give us the best impression, then let us struggle with compression
3. RGB is web standard, CMYK is for print
4. As in gallery pictures, unless a clear breach of MindArk material, i see no problem in that. Nah ofcourse not.

i hear ya man, vector is so cool to work with, i have some years in printdesign behind me, as far as i know MA have still to publish a formfactor for their logos to the public, but i recon that is for press etc.
WE at realityport.com are in development, so there will be an area with theese formats when we settle down for one logo, ive seen some prospects and they look great.
